A new poster from the Katy Perry biopic ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’ has been revealed. The simple images shares a lot about the films rags-to-riches, dream-to-reality story.

A teenage (dream) Perry is in her girlish bedroom, singing into a hairbrush in front of the mirror like most youngins with rock star aspirations often do behind closed doors. She’s wearing a typical teen uniform of a cute mini-skirt and and thigh-high socks, with a record player at her feet. As for the image reflected in the mirror? It’s the blue-haired, strawberry dress-wearing diva, performing before her adoring crowd.

It’s Katy, then and now.

‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’ is a 3D spectacle, reportedly sans all footage of estranged (and soon to be ex) hubby Russell Brand. It hits theaters on July 5 when most of you will be BBQing and swilling beer or lemonade (if you are under 21) in celebration of the country’s independence.

Still, you can inject a little candy-coated color and sugary sweetness into your life by seeing the movie. It’s an intimate look at Katy Hudson becoming Katy Perry, the pop starlet you love to love.

Us girls are always getting gawked at when we’re trying to get our tan on at the beach, so when the rugby team from St Kilda, Australia needed to take an icy swim the other day, we got to return the favor.

Apparently the cold works wonders on helping repair an athlete’s muscles, which is why hotties Lenny Hayes, Rhys Stanley and the rest of the boys were freezing their nips off. Who knew, right? As tough as these guys are, you’ll get a kick out of them giggling and bouncing around in the waves.

If you’re a Verizon Wireless customer who was grandfathered in with an unlimited data plan after the company eliminated the option for new customers, enjoy it while it lasts — the company will be moving you to a tiered plan soon.

Speaking at the JP Morgan Technology, Media and Telecom conference on Wednesday, Verizon CFO Fran Shammo said customers with unlimited 3G data access will be required to switch to a data-share plan after transitioning to the company’s 4G LTE service.

“LTE is our anchor point for data share. So, as you come through an upgrade cycle and you upgrade in the future, you will have to go on to the data share plan,” Shammo said. “Everyone will be on [it]. A lot of our 3G base is on unlimited… [and] when they migrate off 3G they will have to go to data share.”

So when will that happen and how much will it cost? The data share plan is scheduled to launch in mid-summer, but pricing details have yet to be announced.

Ellen Gets Prized

ELLEN DEGENERES is getting some props. She will receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in October.

Her response? Comedic. “To get the same award that has been given to people like Bill Cosby, Tina Fey and Will Ferrell, it really makes me wonder . . . why didn’t I get this sooner?”

They’ve been giving this thing out since 1998. The other recipients were Richard Pryor, Jonathan Winters, Carl Reiner, Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Newhart, Lily Tomlin, Lorne Michaels, Steve Martin, Neil Simon, Billy Crystal and George Carlin

John Mayer Not Singing In Bozeman On Ellen

Back in March, JOHN MAYER had to cancel a tour because of a continuing vocal cord issue. John said he “had no choice but to take an indefinite break from live performing,” and would spend his downtime writing his next album.” On “Ellen” yesterday he talked about his voice problems and how those problem’s haven’t improved. He also mentions that he has been living around Bozeman for the last few years.

On his music John says, “I can’t sing so I’m writing. .Iit’s a thing in my throat. It’s not a health concern whatsoever, but it has taken me out of singing. Tried to beat it the first time and couldn’t.”

In the interview John talks about intentionally keeping a low profile over the past couple years. “It was a very strange time and it sort of rocketed me into adulthood. It was a violent crash into being an adult. For a couple of years it was just figuring it all out, and I’m glad I actually stayed out of the spotlight.

I just sort of lost my head for a little while. I did some kind of dumb interviews and that woke me up.”

I believe that he’s referring to “Playboy” and “Rolling Stone” interviews, where he said Jessica Simpson was “sexual napalm” also, dropping the N-word and blamed his split with Jennifer Aniston on his frequent Tweeting. It’s good to hear that he found a place physically to put himself so he could put himself mentally back together and find what was truly important to him.

A lot of crazy stories come out of Florida which makes me think that everyone there is crazy. But not the kid in this story. 12-year-old Justin Jackson of Milton, Florida is a hero.

See, on Saturday night, Justin was babysitting his four younger siblings while his mom and dad were at work. A storm came through and knocked out the electricity. For light, the kids lit some candles. Around 2:00 A.M. early Sunday, one of the candles started a house fire. Justin jumped into action. With flames engulfing the house, he singlehandedly rescued every one of his 4 siblings. Getting some out and running back into the burning house three times. Even kicking down the door to his three-year-old sister’s room. When the fire department got there, Justin and all four of his siblings were safely outside. The house was a total loss and 2 of the family’s 4 dogs were taken by the fire. Justin’s mother was working her shift at a nursing home at the time, and his father was in Missouri for work.

The closer and closer we get to ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ premiere, the more we want to see Andrew Garfield take his Spidey suit off. You know he’s completely naked underneath there, right?

More and more clips and photos keep churning out from Columbia Pictures, who can’t help but tease us to death with that one iconic shirtless image of Garfield going in for a make-out session with Emma Stone. But our favorite sneak peek we’ve gotten from the movie so far is the latest (count ‘em) four-minute trailer. Check it out.

While there aren’t any new shirtless moments for him yet, we’re hopeful that it’ll be worth the wait. But for now, we just have to imagine what’s waiting for us underneath all that spandex.

While the idea of randomly running into John Mayer in Bozeman was a pretty cool notion, we didn’t plan on purposefully tracking him down. I’m assuming he came to Bozeman because we have a great city and we generally keep to ourselves. But if I did run into him I would definitely go for a high five or hand shake.

Once we got downtown we met up with our friend Keesha who was celebrating her 21st. With a big smile on her face she exclaimed, “We saw John Mayer!” She explained that when she saw him she excitedly told him it was her 21st and asked for a photo with him. He offered to take the photo of the two, and with an outstretched arm, John framed the two of them in the photo. I didn’t ask to see the photo until later that evening while picking up a late night pita and what I she showed me is the image below. Have you seen a smile that genuine before? It’s crazy what celebrities can do to us. Pretty great 21st celebration, right! And welcome to Bozeman, John.

I thought why not go in on a 10′x10′ together? Of course we will split the $50 fee for the booth depending on how much I sell and how much she sells but it’s a win win for both of us.

It’s not uncommon for some teens to sign abstinence pledges or pledges vowing not to drink and drive. But at one high school school in Massachusetts, students are promising to abstain from something else entirely: tanning beds.

A recent CDC survey showed that despite the risk of skin cancer, young women are still visiting tanning salons twice a month — and that’s something the upperclassmen at Maynard High School in Maynard, Mass. want to change.

Back in February, Allison Bosse, a senior, organized a pledge in which students vowed not to use tanning beds or sunbathe before this year’s prom — and it was no easy sell.

“Our school is known for a lot of people tanning,” she said. “Kids start in March because they want to be tan in their dresses for prom.”

Bosse set up tables in the school cafeteria and began asking her fellow students to take the no-tanning pledge. And she must have been pretty persuasive, because 209 of Maynard’s 283 seniors signed on. (Maybe the others just haven’t seen the infamous tanning mom yet.)

Dr. Jennifer Stein, an assistant professor of dermatology at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York, applauds the effort, saying, “There’s a lot of pressure for teenagers to look tan. It’s really important to try to change the way teenagers think about tanning beds.”

Anchorman 2 Teaser, Teaser

Sacha Baron Cohen’s new movie “The Dictator” hit theaters tonight at midnight and if you’re going, you’ll also get to see the first teaser for Anchorman 2.   How long and how much of the film isn’t known, but Will Ferrell took to Twitter yesterday as Ron Burgundy and said “Dont get Twirter. Anchorman2 teaser w Dictator tom night. Dont know what a teaser is. World is crazy? Having a scotch.”  Whether or not the teaser will play before subsequent showings of The Dictator isn’t known.

Britney Spears and Demi Lovato To Judge On X Factor

PAULA ABDUL and NICOLE SCHERZINGER are out and Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are in as judges on “X Factor”.  The talk has been going around forever, but now it’s official. Britney and Demi appeared with SIMON COWELL and L.A. REID at a Fox event yesterday.   What’s Britney have to say? “I’m so excited about this whole experience.  It’s going to be so much fun and so different from anything I’ve ever done.  I’m ready to find the true star.”  Demi said “I am totally stoked to be here . . . I’m excited to represent my generation and I’m ready to find the winner.”  There’s no word on if a conservator has to sign off on Britney’s judgings.

Rattlesnake Bites Man At Walmart

On Saturday, in Lewiston Idaho, a 47-year-old man by the name of Mica Craig was at a Walmart shopping in the garden section.  Mica was looking through the plants, as you so in the garden section and a rattlesnake slithered out and bit him on the hand.  He screamed as it was latched onto his hand.  He shook it loose. Then stomped on the snake until it was dead.  Mica was put in the hospital, where his hand swelled to the size of a cantaloupe from the venom.  He was treated with six bags of anti-venom, and his life isn’t in jeopardy, but he’s been told his hand may be permanently disfigured.  Is he suing? Among the new shows coming to us from NBC is ‘Chicago Fire,’ which we can only assume is trying to fill a hole in the firemen-centered drama category that FX’s ‘Rescue Me’ just couldn’t. If you check out the new video promo, though, you can tell right away that this might become your new favorite guilty pleasure courtesy of Jesse Spencer… and to a lesser extent Taylor Kinney.

Ha! We’re just kidding. Kind of. Kinney certainly steams up the screen with his ab rack and numerous shirtless moments, but Spencer is Australian and has a gentlemanly air about him that makes you want to tear off those fireman suspenders. Sorry, we got a little carried away for a second.

We loved watching this guy in ‘Uptown Girls’ with Brittany Murphy and as the half-naked Olympian Tony Fingleton in ‘Swimming Upstream’ — oh, yeah, and he was in ‘House,’ too — but did you know that he’s also a musician? Yup, he plays violin in the group Band From TV with his ‘House’ co-star Hugh Laurie. We don’t think Kinney can do that.

OneRepublic drummer Edward Ray Fisher had a bad day, it seems. The skinsman was arrested in Denver, Colo. this morning (May 15), with cops claiming he flipped out and went into a destructive rage, according to TMZ. A destructive rage? Yikes.

TMZ also obtained the kit minder’s mugshot, which you can view by clicking below. Check out his forehead, which boasts a circular, bloodied injury that made us say “Ouch” upon looking at it. That thing looks painful. It’s not been determined how he sustained the gash, but it’s likely due to his “destructive rage.”

Fisher was booked for destruction of private property, disturbing the peace and assault. Further details on what he destroyed and why, not to mention how, are TBD. We’ll fill you in as we find out what the heck happened. All we know is, “it’s too late to apologize.” Sorry, we had to…

Fisher, 38, resides in Denver. He is due in Denver County Court tomorrow (May 16) to answer the charges.

Remind us not to piss this guy off…

Howard Stern takes his gig as a judge on ‘America’s Got Talent‘ seriously — and during last night’s debut (May 14), the radio host earned rave reviews. We’re not shocked. Stern is the best thing that could have happened to the show, as his frank and candid commentary is just what a show like ‘AGT’ needs!

According to MTV, Stern’s reviews garnered near-universal praise, collecting comments from top critics across the country, who obviously connected with the fact that he wants to be on that show and likes his job.

The Los Angeles Times claimed that “like fellow judges Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel, he [Stern] meant to play the game the way the game is meant to be played, because, to a deep degree, he believes in it.” True dat!

The Washington Post said that Stern dished out “a tiny bit of brutal honesty” — we think “tiny bit” is an understatement, just sayin’ — while basking “in the show’s trademark combination of awkwardness, ingenuity and love.” Anyone who listens to the Stern show on a daily basis knows that the “shock jock” is the king of the nerds, albeit one who isn’t afraid to talk to porn stars and their backdoor bedroom habits. For the most part, he kept the R-rated material off the show and focused on the contestants in fair fashion.

The New York Daily News said it best by proclaiming, “Inviting Stern on ‘AGT’ is not like inviting the Sex Pistols to crash ‘La Traviata’ at the Met. ‘America’s Got Talent’ didn’t hire Stern to inject outrageous and wacky. It didn’t need to. It has ‘em already.” Stern, instead, was “caught up in the show’s figurative group hugs and four-handkerchief moments.” His commentary proved that he is a softy at heart, but can be critical when necessary. Sort of like…a parent!

PEOPLE even gave him props, saying,”Stern showed a lot of heart and proved he’s got talent — for judging!” His fans already knew that!

For the father-daugher combo of Maurice and Shanice Hayes, he said,“You move me. You guys are spectacular together.I think every father in America watching is saying, ‘This is the kind of relationship I want with my daughter.’”

There is a growing trend among America’s married couples that appears to be gaining ground as a result of a challenging economy and unsettled job market.

That trend is the commuter marriage. But what is it?

It’s basically a long distance relationship that exists to promote the financial gain of the married couple. In the typical commuter marriage, one spouse will rent an apartment in the city where they work, while the other runs things at home. Then, in order to maintain a connected marriage the commuting spouse flies back and forth while the non-commuting spouse makes special trips to visit.

It seems that ever since the recession hit, working-class people have been forced to broaden the geographic scope of their job search in order to maintain the lifestyle they want to live. In fact, according to the US Census Bureau, 3.5 million couples were part of commuter marriages last year. That’s up about 17 percent from 2001, when three million couple did it.

So rather than try to sell a home during a real estate downturn and relocate for work, it appears that more American couples have opted to invest their money in travel and living expenses as a means for strengthening their bottom line.

The Wanted recently stopped by AOL Sessions while visiting New York City. While there, the guys not only performed a slew of their songs (including their new single ‘Chasing the Sun’ and their hit ‘Glad You Came’) but also talked about the stigma that comes with the “boy band” label, as well as their favorite song from rival boy band One Direction and their chances of collaborating with them.

Jay McGuiness started off the interview by talking about the “boy band” label. He said: “I think the view [of boy bands] changed slightly because people realized as much as a lot of young girls like our songs, we’re not just tailoring it to those people. We want to … we make songs that I think if it wasn’t five guys singing it … if it was one guy singing it, then everyone would buy it. And so somehow we always have that stigma, but we don’t care about those people — we care about the people that buy our albums and songs and we are very happy with the songs we do, I think.”

Although they’ve been asked time and time again about the whole One Direction “feud,” this time around, the guys actually dished on which 1D song was their favorite jam and the possibility of collaborating with the ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ singers. While Max George wasn’t quick to answer the favorite song question, replying, “That’s something we have not thought about,” McGuiness gave some props to the 1D boys. ”Ok, the one that I like most is ‘It’s Gotta Be You’ because I just think those harmonies they do in the back, it’s just uplifting. It’s cool,” he said.

Even though they’ll admit to being familiar with One Direction’s catalog, the Wanted squashed any hopes of a collabo, and with good reason. George said, “It would be hard to do a collab with them because it’s sort of mixing two genre’s … you’re in the same genre, but the music’s so different … we’re allowed to make sexual innuendos where I’m guessing they wouldn’t. But we like to do that sort of thing, so we’d have to make a compromise which would fit …which would fit both sets of bands I think.”

Siva Kaneswaran then pointed out the most logical reason as to why the group’s will never meet: “There would be 10 people singing on our song which is just a crowd, that’s like a crowd. No one wants to listen to a crowd sing. No one!”

It looked at is the Gaga was showing of a new engagement ring the other day, after a photographer posted pics.  But, “sources close to Gaga” say that she is not engaged.  We’re not even sure she is attached.  Last we heard, she and her boyfriend Taylor Kinney broke up.

Janitor Graduates After 20 Years Of Free Classes

In 1992, 32 year old Gac Filipaj fled fled Montenegro rather than fight in the civil wars and ethnic cleansing in the former Yugoslavia.  After making it to New York, he got a job at Columbia University as a janitor.  Why Columbia? Because the job came with 14 free credit hours every year.

After 7 years of learning English well enough to understand the Ivy League Classes, he enrolled in Columbia’s classics program, and started slowly working toward a degree.  20 years after he escaped from Yugoslavia, Gac is 52 years old, still a janitor, graduated from Columbia, with honors.  So what now?  Just like a lot of other students, he’s going to stay in school and work for a master’s and maybe this Ph.D.
