Montana’s Most Iconic Building Is An Odd Choice
With all the buildings found in Montana, you would think there would be better choices.
You would think Montanans are typical folks. We don't like to rock the boat, cause problems, and enjoy what's around us. With Montana being mostly forests, streams, and mountains, you would think our buildings would not be complicated.
You wouldn't be wrong.
Most buildings are simple and not overly artistic, but they are still visually pleasing to the eye.
We've talked in the past about the most unusual building in Montana, and that was an odd choice because it's not weird at all.
What about the most iconic building in Montana? A building that's a focal point for tourists or locals.
We might have that answer, but it's debatable.
Stacker made a list of the Most Iconic Buildings in Every State, and Montana's was a peculiar choice.
Which building could they have picked? The Wilma in Missoula? The Armory Hotel in Bozeman? Nope, none of those.
The most iconic building in Montana is the Hotel Meade in Bannack.
Yeah, we are just as confused as you.
This two-story brick building was built during the 1870s and was where many gold miners stayed to find fortune.
Now, The Hotel Meade is a part of the ghost town of Bannack and is a focal point of tours, but is it the most iconic?
There are better choices in Montana that are more iconic. There are buildings like the church in Stevensville constructed in the 1840s, several buildings in Butte with history, and more.
The Hotel Meade is a fine selection, but we could do better.
