Driving is a way of life in Montana and we have to deal with all types of drivers but this is a gesture we should start using to voice our displeasure.

We know the only way to get around Montana is primarily by driving. Folks sometimes commute for hours for work, vacation, or shopping and it happens daily. You will see all vehicles on the road from trucks to cars to motorcycles and big rigs hauling down the interstates and highways.

The only thing is people have different driving techniques. Some people like to get to their destination as quickly as possible and some folks(like my dad), like to take their sweet time and they can frustrate some drivers.

I am one of those drivers that likes to get to my destination quickly but legally and having slow cars or terrible drivers can be infuriating. This is especially true when a semi-truck tries to pass another semi on a mountain pass going uphill. It's annoying to no end.

Most people in their frustration will give the old middle finger salute to commuters they are displeased with and I used to be one of those people.

Recently I have started to use another hand gesture and not only is it more appropriate but it seems to get a rise out of the other drivers harder than the middle finger gesture.

That gesture is the thumbs down.

Giving a thumbs down to someone is not only appropriate and clean but it gives off a sense of disappointment and that's why it's the best gesture to use towards bad drivers. It tells the other driver that you don't approve of their terrible skills or habits and they should do better in the future.

So the next time you are on the interstate and have to deal with an annoying driver, give them a thumbs down. You might get a hilarious reaction.
