You might want to double-check what you are mailing out because you could get in serious trouble.

We've all gone to the post office to mail letters, documents, or packages to friends, family, or others. Mailing things can be difficult if you are in a hurry or trying to fit everything into a box that is too small, but we all typically follow the rules.

When it's your turn to mail a package to the United States Post Office, you will be asked if anything fragile is inside or if there are any hazardous items because you or the post office don't want the package to break or cause chaos.

Do you know there are several items you are banned from mailing in or out of Montana?

You know about the hazardous things you can't mail, like lithium batteries, alcohol, and more, but there are certain things you should never mail because you could end up in trouble.

How much trouble? If you get caught mailing any of these items, you could get a fine between $250 to $100K. This fine doesn't include criminal charges and charges for clean-up.

Why are these items banned?

Some of these make sense, like airbags, explosives, and gasoline, because those are all volatile items that could cause quite a bit of damage. Ammunition seems to be in that realm. Marijuana isn't federally regulated, so you shouldn't be able to mail any product.

The one interesting one is liquid mercury. First, who has liquid mercury around them, and why would you want to mail that to anyone? It's highly toxic and could affect the people mailing your package. That item is just idiotic to mail.

Other items are restricted, but if you want to see the entire list, check out the United States Postal Service.

20 License Plates Banned In Montana

This is just a small glimpse at banned license plates in the state of Montana. There are well over 4000 that could be added to this list.

Now why some of these are banned is beyond me. I don't find any of them offensive, that's for sure; the state of Montana has the right to refuse:

"any combination of letters or numbers, or both, that may carry connotations offensive to good taste and decency or which are misleading or a duplication of license plates provided elsewhere."- Montana Motor Vehicle Department

What plates are banned in your state? Hopefully, they are not as picky as Montana.
