When Is Montana’s Next Solar Eclipse?
If you're here in Montana and want to see Today's Solar Eclipse, we've got some bad news. While Montanans will see a partial eclipse, the next chance to see a full eclipse here in Big Sky Country won't happen until 2044.
According to the folks over at CBS News, folks can expect a Solar Eclipse in 2044 and 2045, however for Montana, 2044 is the big one.
Montana is in the direct path of the 2044 Solar Eclipse, at least part of Montana anyway. According to the map, the 2044 eclipse will mostly happen in Canada but will include parts of Montana and North Dakota.
The map shows that about half of Montana will be in the direct path of the 2044 eclipse, including most of the northern and eastern parts of the state. However, those living in the southwestern part of the state might be out of luck.
The 2045 Solar Eclipse will cover several states including California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and many states in the south.
What about after 2045? Well, unfortunately for many of us, the chances of us being around for the 2078 and 2099 Solar Eclipses might be a little slim. The 2078 eclipse is scheduled to cover much of the south, while the 2099 eclipse looks like it will cover the upper Midwest.
So, for all of the Montanans hoping to see another Solar Eclipse in their lifetime and don't plan on traveling across the country, your next shot is 20 years. In fact, according to Nasa, the date will be August 23rd, 2044, so, go ahead and plan accordingly.
