Pollen is a powdery substance that helps seed plants and trees reproduce and spread in their areas.
Montana is packed with trees and plants carrying pollen. The worst part is the pollen can hit you in the spring through the fall.
You might think Montana is one of the worst places in America for allergies, but you might be surprised.
USA Today listed the worst places for pollen, and Montana landed in the middle of the pack.
Montana has a medium to high amount of pollen during the spring.
That might not seem too bad, but there's something to consider. Climate change has been lengthening pollen season, and one Montana town landed in the Top 10 for having an extended allergy season.
Missoula landed at #6 for having their allergy season last an additional 48 days compared to the national average.
Missoula has so many seed plants and trees that bloom early in the season it becomes Montana's ground zero for allergies.
Is there any way to protect yourself from this? Other than protecting your airways or medication, not much.
With the weather turning nice sooner than expected in Montana in 2024, don't be surprised if your allergies kick up soon.
