The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing is happening on Saturday, July 20th and there are many documentaries that will air on this huge accomplishment.

Here are a few highlights to check out.

    8 Days:To the Moon and Back

    Produced by PBS and BBC Studios, this film tracks the mission from countdown to splashdown with archival news footage, re-enactments, and more. This will premiere on PBS on July 17th at 9 PM.

    Apollo:The Forgotten Films

    Discovery on July 20th, at 8 PM will be showing the documentary, Apollo:The Forgotten Films. This film is all about how the engineers, scientists, and astronauts achieved the moon landing goal set forth by John F. Kennedy. They use footage from NASA, old news footage, and other sources.

    Apollo 11

    From writer and director Todd Douglas Miller, this film shows Apollo 11 like nothing before. This recounts the mission from the Saturn V's rocket transport to the launchpad using new 70 mm footage that has never been seen before. They also use extensive audio recordings and restored material from the National Archives and NASA. Apollo 11 will be shown on CNN, on Saturday, July 20th at 9 PM.
