The whole situation is coming to a breaking point and the City of Bozeman needs to show citizens they care about the people trying to live here.

Listen, we've talked at length about the housing situation here in Bozeman. From apartments to housing, the problem is only growing. The reason why I am bringing this up yet again is that we have an update about the 'workforce' housing that is being built near the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.

KBZK is reporting that construction is underway for the apartment complex being built just off of the Airport offramp in Belgrade, and the first phase will include 170 units of apartments ranging from one bedroom to four bedroom spots and will be specifically made for the workforce in the Gallatin Valley.

According to the report, many employers have reached out to secure spots for their employees. The biggest one is Bozeman Deaconess Hospital trying to secure 100 units for employees. Bozeman Deaconess Hospital has been struggling to hire employees due to the housing situation in the Gallatin Valley and is planning to be a part of this complex being built.

Listen, am I happy to see someone finally realizing the problem and building housing for folks that can finally afford to live here? Yes. The issue that I am still seeing is that a private enterprise is at the forefront to come to the rescue and not the City of Bozeman.

The City of Bozeman knows how insane the cost of living here is locally but keeps delaying trying to solve the problem. The City of Bozeman needs to start making plans to build their own affordable or workforce housing for the future, or we are in deep trouble.

The new complex that is underway won't be ready till the summer of 2023, but we imagine they will have a lot of applications to live there.
