Big Sky Conference Announces Changes For Basketball
This isn't a bad idea.
The Big Sky Conference announced that for the 2020-2021 basketball season teams will be playing a 16 game conference schedule, instead of the usual 20 game schedule.
This will be for both the Men's and Women's basketball teams of the Big Sky Conference.
The reasoning behind this is the help cut the costs for many teams that make huge trips to schools across the west coast.
Geographic proximity will be the main criteria. Teams will play six teams twice and then four teams just once.
So if you look at Montana State's location. The teams we will be playing twice will be University of Montana, Southern Utah, Idaho State, Northern Colorado, University of Idaho and Eastern Washington/Weber State.
If the teams want to add more non-conference games they can do so.
This is a great idea for the Big Sky Conference, shorter season and that will make games even more intense leading up to the conference championship in Boise, Idaho.
