Winter In June? Could It Snow This Week Around The Bozeman Area?

Summer in Montana is something to behold.

After a long winter, the grass is green, the mountains are majestic, and the big skies seem more prominent than normal. Of course, summer weather can be a little unpredictable with showers and the occasional thunderstorm or two, however, while not unheard of, you usually don't think of more snow.

Plus, for many, including a lot of locals it seemed that the past winter was longer than normal, so the last thing anyone wants is more snow, right? But is that even a possibility?

Taking a look at the Bozeman forecast this week, there isn't snow predicted, but we are looking at a lot of rain and cooler temps, which means we could see some white mountaintops around the area.

Obviously, summer snow isn't the norm, but it does happen, in fact, in July of 2021 Montana saw snowfall along with Idaho and Wyoming, and it snowed in June of 2020 here in Big Sky Country.

Of course, there have been numerous other years that we've received snow in the summer months, and if you've lived here anytime at all, it's not that big of a deal.

Keep in mind, the snow usually happens in higher elevations, but the fact remains it's not unheard of to have snow in Montana during the summer. So, if you're thinking about moving to Montana, you might want to keep that in mind.  Not only is winter like 9 months a year, but you can literally see snow almost any time of the year.

Does this week's forecast mean you need to go through the winter weather box and grab your boots and gloves?  Probably not, but keep an eye out for snow-covered mountain tops, and maybe get a picture or two.
