There are a few sports that people love constantly watching on television or in person. Football is number one, and mixed martial arts is probably second.
MMA fights are well-liked among locals because people can get together, have fun, and watch entertaining fights. Many bars host UFC watch parties because it can bring in significant money depending on who is fighting. Some bars even charge cover fees for these events.
There is one fighter Montanans like above all others. He is local and has been making a big splash for the UFC.
Sean O'Malley has been making waves since his UFC debut, and back in August won the UFC bantamweight title. He will have to defend that title on Saturday, March 9th, at UFC 299, and Montanans are thrilled.
'Suga' Sean O'Malley was born and raised in Helena and started his amateur career in Montana. He has risen through the ranks and has become a massive personality within the sport.
O'Malley has been working hard to help elevate UFC within Montana, and using his celebrity status helps.
Montana Sports reports he will have several products available in Town Pump stores across the state, and Universal Athletic teamed up with O'Malley to create some shirt designs to sell in stores.
We expect to see some of these shirts worn during the big fight next weekend.
You must love when a Montana kid gains success and wants to give back and inspire future generations.
If Sean O'Malley keeps his title, we could see UFC's first event in Montana soon. That would be a can't-miss event.
UFC 299 is on Saturday, March 9th, so make plans now.
