Reese Witherspoon Is Really Sorry About Going All Tracy Flick on the Cops
As you've probably heard by now, 'Election' star Reese Witherspoon was arrested on Friday, April 12, after her husband Jim Toth got a DUI and she got mouthy and self-important with law enforcement in a rather Tracy Flick-esque manner.
But now she's issued a mea culpa.
In a statement released through her publicist (who, after years of shiny happy news, is finally earning his or her keep), Reese said:
“Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior.”
The couple still has some court appearances in their future, including today (April 22). Which means the aforementioned publicist will be busy for a while longer before going back into hibernation.
