According to the Bozeman Police Department, a 27-year-old man has died after he jumped from a fire escape at the Baxter Hotel in downtown Bozeman.

According to Captain Cory Klumb, the Commander of the Detective Division at the Bozeman Police Department, officers arrived on scene Tuesday afternoon after receiving a call about a possible suicide attempt. The report indicated that a man was standing on the fire escape at the Baxter Hotel.

Officers made multiple attempts to stop the man from jumping, but were unsuccessful. After the man jumped, he was taken to Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital with serious injuries.

Captain Klumb confirmed that the man died at the Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital on Tuesday evening.

The Gallatin County Coroner’s Office has not released the identity of the man. They are waiting to notify next of kin.
