One of Bozeman's most iconic landmarks is celebrating its 93rd birthday.

The Baxter is a renovated, historic hotel in Downtown Bozeman. As you enter the lobby, you’re welcomed by marble floors, vaulted ceilings, warm lighting, and historic elegance.

The Baxter Hotel in downtown Bozeman first opened on March 2, 1929. The building was designed by famed Bozeman architect, Fred Willson. Willson continued work on the interior of the building until 1951.

According to the Baxter Hotel website, George Baxter, a rancher in Gallatin County, held fund a significant portion of the financing for the hotel and was rewarded by having the hotel named in his honor.

The Baxter Hotel doesn't offer lodging accommodations for guests anymore but still offers a lot to those living in the Bozeman community. Nowadays, it houses residential and commercial rental spaces. A couple of restaurants, including Ted's Montana Grill and the Bacchus Pub, are located on the lower level of the Baxter Hotel. You can also satisfy your sweet tooth at La Petite Châtelaine Chocolat Co.

The Baxter is also a popular destination for weddings and special events.

Located near the top of the Baxter Hotel next to its iconic sign, there is a bright blue light that is turned on to let skiers know when it is snowing a Bridger Bowl. The light was installed in 1981.
