Warning: Reduced Visibility, Dangerous 60 MPH Winds Near Livingston
Until about noon on Wednesday, very gusty winds will affect travel on the I-90 corridor between Livingston and Big Timber. Blowing and drifting snow is expected, and high profile vehicles may get blown around a bit.
Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday are supposed to be the windiest period. However, high winds could continue well into Thursday according to the National Weather Service.

- IMPACTS...Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, which along with strong crosswinds will make travel difficult.
- Travel on I-90 from Livingston to Big Timber, and roads along the Beartooth foothills, will be impacted.
- Those driving high-profile vehicles or towing trailers should consider using an alternate route.
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The risk of blowing snow will diminish as temperatures warm into the 40s Wednesday afternoon.
- However, strong southwest winds are expected to continue through Thursday night.

- The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center is issuing a Backcountry Avalanche Warning for the Southern Madison and Southern Gallatin Ranges
- 10 inches of heavy snow fell onto a weak snowpack in the last 24 hours.
- We are renewing the Avalanche Warning for the mountains around Cooke City, where an additional 7 inches of snow added to storm totals nearing 20 inches.
- The snowpack is unstable, and triggering dangerous avalanches is very likely.
