Montana Scores Big To Receive Better Internet
We hope this is a sign of things to come for Montanans.
Internet in Montana
Depending on where you live in Montana, internet access can be difficult.
Most Montanans only have a few options for internet providers. Those who live in rural areas of Big Sky Country might have only one choice for an internet provider.
Whether you are a student or an adult, we all need access to the web to succeed and operate in today's world.
The problem is Montana has some of the worst internet speeds in America.
According to World Popular Review, Montana has the 4th worst internet speed.
The speed is an issue for kids trying to finish assignments or adults finishing work. We need sufficient internet speed for work and play.
If you share a house with multiple folks, you know internet speeds can drain fast.
Is there help on the way? Possibly.
Montana Receives Over $600 Million to Improve The Internet
KFYR reports Montana will receive $629 million to help improve broadband internet access across the state. Internet providers will have up to four years to improve and develop services.
What does this mean?
Internet companies like Spectrum, Century Link, and others will have the opportunity to figure out how to crank up the internet speed in Montana.
This money also gives new companies or upstarts to create better internet services in underserved areas. We could see new fiber companies offer improved internet speeds for cheaper prices.
If we want future generations to have the same chance as everyone else, it starts with having proper internet access to all locals.
We hope it doesn't take four years.
