Is This Montana River Perfect Right Now? Yes, For Many Reasons
The other day I went on a little day trip. I had been told by numerous people that I absolutely had to try it. So, with the weather being so hot lately, I thought this would be the perfect time to go and give it a shot.
What am I referring to? Tubing the Madison River. Just a quick trip outside of Bozeman and you will find the Madison River, known for its "lazy river style" tubing or floating. I was a bit nervous after reading some reviews about water levels. Some said it was low and they had to walk a lot of the river.
Good news, that was not the case when I was there. The water was about thigh deep (I'm 5 foot 6 inches) and flowing quite nicely. Don't get me wrong, there were a few spots where you have to lift your booty to miss the rocks, but not more than a handful of times. They said to plan for about 3 hours on all the platforms, but it took us about 2 hours to complete.
I also got lucky when it came to tube rentals. We had borrowed tubes from a couple of friends, and as kind as that was, the tubes were not ideal for us. So LUCKILY Madison River Rentals was out there for just that day and rented us a couple of tubes for the day.
If you are looking for a nice lazy afternoon to enjoy nature, scenic views, and the warm sunshine, the Madison River is perfect this time of year.
