My son is not that far away from putting me into full panic mother mode. His driver's test. He turns 14 soon and can get his permit, which let's be honest, terrifies me more than then being stuck in a room with someone I strongly dislike.

I got my license when I was 14. We lived in the country and I had early classes and was mature and responsible. Well, more responsible than mature, but either way, I was young. I started thinking about the car I used for my test. A 1996 white Dodge Neon...with a cracked windshield.

I should have failed right away with the cracked windshield, but it was winter and dark still and I don't think the guy who was testing me had any care in the world. In fact, I don't think he really "loved" his job. He was a large dude in all ways, shapes and forms and being stuck in my tiny car was most likely, not how he wanted to start his Monday. Poor guy!

I asked a question and waited for responses...and I will be honest, you can tell a person's age from the type/year of vehicle they tested in. I have a HARD time believing very many 14-16 year olds will be testing in one of these beauties.

In fact, most kids in high school have vehicles nicer than I have ever had. Thanks Mom and Dad.

What was your testing vehicle? Old, new, borrowed? Let me know! I can tell you right now, my kiddo will not be testing in anything that is newer than the year he was born. So if anyone has a 2008 or older, beat up car they want to rent, let me know!
