We have some bad news for those hoping for a late ski season.

We are on the eve of the summer and folks are excited to go hiking, camping, or float a river with their friends or family. People are thrilled to shed their winter clothes and enjoy the sunny days ahead.

Many winter enthusiasts are sad that the ski areas are closed for the season. They are all putting away their boots, gear, and jackets waiting for the next winter season.

What if you wanted to ski during the summer? Is there anything like that in Montana?

Yes, there is.

If you are new to Montana, a ski area opens during Memorial Day Weekend through early July. It's not huge, but the area is a fun place to shred some slopes and enjoy the beautiful weather.

We are talking about Beartooth Basin.

Beartooth Basin is a fun little ski area that can only open in the summer due to the highway. It's inaccessible during the winter.

You will see skiers in jeans or shorts enjoying themselves on the slopes. It's an odd sight but everyone is having a fantastic time.

What's the problem? Due to the lack of snow in that area of Montana, Beartooth Basin will not be open in 2024.

It's a bummer for those hoping to ski or snowboard before hanging up their board or skis.

Beartooth Basin is one of Montana's most unique summer attractions, and it's awful it won't be open this summer.

Let's hope it opens in 2025.
