Listen, I know a lot of folks might have some feelings about this but we all should be honest with ourselves.

One thing that is a great activity during the winter with friends is hold a bonfire. People can be spaced out, enjoy the beautiful Montana outdoors and stay warm or that is the concept. I am of the mindset that winter bonfires are overrated and underrated at the same time.

The reason why bonfires during a Montana winter are overrated is for one solid reason, it's a mess. Listen, I don't mind getting bundled up to hang out with friends and enjoy the Montana night but a winter bonfire has issues. With all the winter clothing you are wearing can cause you to overheat and so you are constantly trying to find the happy medium of where to stand. You have to stand because if you sit you butt will freeze on any surface. Then you constantly have to rotate yourself like a rotisserie chicken to make sure your whole body stays warm.

The thing is though, winter bonfires can be extremely underrated, especially during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Bonfires are fantastic ways to get with your closest friends enjoy each other's company and be spread six feet apart. Plus, you can have a few delicious beverages while telling stories and laughing the night away.

Winter bonfires are great and I will go to one whenever I have a chance and as much as I want to complain about being hot and cold at the same time, I will always be a fan of bonfires. Just for the reason of being able to spend time with friends and family, it's always worth it.
