A few days ago on the Bozeman Reddit page, u/SoundSecret asked;

Has anyone else noticed that people drive weird here?

They continued, saying that they were from out of town but had witnessed some really bad driving in the Bozeman area.

Some of the reasons included that people are generally bad at driving with ice and snow on the road. The user also said that Bozeman drivers are overly courteous, and often yield to other drivers, even if they have the right-of-way. One other complaint was that Bozeman drivers are too slow.

I'll admit, I've had my fair share of experiences with bad drivers in Bozeman. I commute from Manhattan every morning, and on more than one occasion, I've had someone nearly run me of the interstate.

Another thing that happens quite often is drivers not waiting for people to cross the street at crosswalks. I've been yelled at a couple times to "get out of the road" even though I had the right-of-way.

With Bozeman's rapid growth, there are a lot of new people in the area. Many of Bozeman's newest residents are moving here from larger, more densely populated places. If you've ever lived in a larger city, it seems like people are always in a hurry to get where they are going.

Personally, I think one of the best things about living in Montana is that you can take life at a slower pace. Maybe some of the newcomers think Bozeman drivers are weird because they're used to always being in a hurry. We like to slow down and take the time to smell the roses in Bozeman.
