U.S. and Canada Border to Remain Closed Through Late March
Hopefully we will see this change by the time summer rolls around but we aren't holding our breath on it.
USA Today is reporting that the United States and Canada have agreed to keep their borders to each other closed at least through March 21st, 2021, which will mark a full year of the border between Canada and the United States being closed. As you can imagine the reason behind the decision is to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
That doesn't mean you can't travel to Canada. Trade is still allowed to Canada and you can still travel to our northern friends but you have to prove to the Canadian government that your are traveling is essential and you have to quarantine for 14 days when you get to the country. If you are flying to Canada you will have to provide a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival as well.
This move by the United States and Canada makes total sense. They are trying to play it safe and want to make sure they slow the spread of COVID-19 and eliminating travel is a good way of how to do it.
Hopefully we can keep the trend of beating COVID-19 and we will have the opportunity to go visit Canada soon. For instance, I am missing winters and summer going up to Canada and enjoying Banff and some of my Canadian friends are missing coming down to Montana and enjoying all of our ski resorts. Let's just hope the border closure ends soon.
