According to the Associated Press, a vehicle with three people inside drove off of the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park on Monday after swerving to avoid a vehicle stopped in the road.

The SUV dropped down a 40-foot embankment during the incident.

Rescue teams reached the vehicle and brought the occupants to safety before they were taken to a hospital in Kalispell. All three are reported to be in stable condition with some injuries.

The crash happened in the early evening on Monday near Packer's Roost.

The person driving the stopped vehicle was reportedly watching a bear when the wreck happened.

The incident caused a three hour long backup on the famed roadway.
