The Sundance Film Festival happens every winter in Utah.

Sundance Film Festival is the premier film festival for independent or small movies to be shown and picked up by distributors.

Films like Get Out, Whiplash, Precious, Little Miss Sunshine, and others debuted at Sundance and went on to win Oscars.

Many critics, celebrities, and locals head to Sundance to watch movies that could be massive award winners.

Well, things might be changing.

The Sundance Institute announced they might need to move the festival in 2027.

Why? Rising costs in lodging, food, and other factors have the festival thinking about making a move.

Where to? That's the interesting part.

Salt Lake City and Boulder, Colorado are possible relocations but one site is a head-scratcher.

What's the wild card city? Cincinnati, Ohio.

Salt Lake City makes sense with the proximity to Sundance, and Boulder is a blossoming city that can accommodate many, but Cincinnati makes zero sense.

We believe the announcement could happen during the 2025 festival.
