Montana recently was voted the most patriotic state in the country. Needless to say, Montanans love their freedom. Montana is home to many members of the military and veterans.

With the 4th of July holiday coming up this weekend, many people are eager to celebrate. Many celebrations in 2020 were cancelled due to the pandemic, so a lot of Montanans are planning to go big this year when it comes to celebrating with fireworks.

Throughout much of the state, dry conditions and hot temperatures have resulted in some towns and cities asking residents to skip the fireworks this year. The City of Bozeman and the Bozeman Fire Department is urging residents to forgo fireworks this year and take extra precautions due to the hot and dry summer weather. The city is urging residents to consider not using fireworks at all this year.

 According to the National Interagency Fire Center, in 2020 there were 53,563 human-caused wildfires in the United States. With a record-setting heatwave forecasted for next week and heading into the 4th of July amidst seasonal drought conditions across Montana, we’re urging people to celebrate and recreate responsibly this year. While we encourage everyone to have a great 4th of July, we are asking that we all do so safely and take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of fire.

As Americans, the 4th of July is a big deal. It's the celebration of our nation's independence. After the past year, people are ready to celebrate things getting back to normal in a big way. Many people have already been lighting off fireworks in preparation for the 4th of July holiday.
