Billings, Montana is known for the highest crime rate in the state of Montana. Part of the reason is that Billings is the state's most populated city. Billings also has one of the highest crime rates per capita in the country. The city may be slightly more affordable than places like Bozeman or Missoula, but there's a trade-off. If you live in Billings, the crime rate is considerably higher. If you turn on the local news, you'll most likely hear about a shooting or other crime committed in Billings.

According to HomeSnacks, the violent crime rate in Montana ranks 11th in the United States. The data indicates that in Montana, there are 27,994 crimes reported per 100,000 residents. I'm not trying to bash Billings. I mean, most of the people that live there aren't happy about the high crime rate either. Out of the 320 major cities with over 100K surveyed, Billings ranks #24.

Unfortunately, with the rapid growth many towns in Montana have experienced recently, higher crime rates will soon follow. Sadly, the days of leaving your doors unlocked are coming to an end in Montana.
