Montana Only Received One Spot On This Enormous List
How does Montana only land on this list with only one selection? Montana should have had a few places on this list.
Montana and the places that exist inside the state land on lists all the time. It could be the most beautiful places, fantastic national parks, and more. People love putting Montana on lists. Most Montanans prefer not to have things like this advertised or exposed to the world because that means we won't have it all to ourselves.
Our problem with this is some lists omit or drop the ball on adding some incredible places in Montana that deserve recognition. This list is one of them.
One of the most popular leisure activities during the summer is golfing. It would be hard not to find someone who doesn't enjoy a day on the links with friends or family. Montana has some stellar golf courses. Some of the best golf courses are private, but there are some public courses locals love and have views for days.
That's why this list was surprising.
Golf Digest made a list of America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses, and only one Montana course made the list. The wild part is the course that landed on the list will surprise you.
The only Montana public golf course to land on the Greatest Public Golf Courses is the Wilderness Club in the small town of Eureka.
The Wilderness Club is set right next to the Kootenai National Forest, so you know the views are gorgeous. The course was designed with the help of British golf legend Nick Faldo, who resides in Bozeman.
The Wilderness Club landed at #44 on the list, but we were surprised more Montana public courses weren't also on the list. Places like Old Works in Anaconda, where Montana State holds golf tournaments, or Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, which hosted a match between Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.
Montana does have some incredible private golf courses, but our public golf courses aren't shabby either. So what's the deal Golf Digest?
