That's down from an all-time high of $4.97 on June 19, 2022. Gas prices in Montana are still about $2 more per gallon than they were in July 2021.

Unfortunately, it sounds like it's going to be a long time before gas prices return to normal in Montana, but any reduction in price is good news. Hopefully, the trend continues and Montanans continue to see lower gas prices.

The highest average price for a gallon of diesel was recorded on June 30, 2022, at $5.90/gallon. As of today, the average price for a gallon of diesel in Montana has dropped to $5.88.

Gas prices are still really high, and it's yet to be seen how the high prices will affect businesses in Montana that rely on annual tourism to survive. Some states have decided to suspend the gas tax, but Montana isn't one of them. If the state decides to suspend the gas tax, it would provide much-needed relief to many Montanans.

Gas prices are falling the fastest in Texas, Arizona, Indiana, and Delaware, according to AAA.
