Montana Westerns

We have another movie to add to this prestigious list.

The most common films made in Big Sky Country are Westerns.

That makes sense.

We have old ghost towns, movie sets, and the scenery to provide areas for a Western movie.

Some incredible Western films were shot in Montana, like A River Runs Through It and Legends of the Fall.

Over the past five years, a surge of Westerns set up productions around Montana, like The Organ Trail, Murder in Yellowstone City, and Butcher's Crossing.

These films have brought high-profile talents like Nicolas Cage, Pierce Brosnan, and Machine Gun Kelly.

It's incredible to see Big Sky Country become a more prominent figure in cinema.

Well, a new movie is on the way and has massive potential.

New Western Depicts Famous Montana Painter

The Los Angeles Times wrote about a new Western coming out that could be an award contender.

Buffalo Daze is a new film that depicts the West through the eyes of Charles M. Russell.

If you don't know, Charles M. Russell is Montana's most famous painter.

The painter has a museum and a high school named after him in Great Falls, where he resided most of his life.

The movie has a diverse cast of Native American actors to tell a thriving story about the West and the history that occurred.

Many actors in the movie have had roles in shows like Yellowstone, 1923, and other Western shows today.

The movie even features Ned LeDoux, the son of famous country music star Chris LeDoux.

Many of the shots of Charles M. Russell occurred in his original studio in Great Falls.

Buffalo Daze Award Contender?

Buffalo Daze may have award potential due to the storyline.

Westerns have made a comeback as award contenders over the years, like Killers of The Flower Moon and The Power of the Dog.

Buffalo Daze features historical figures and a period when America was constantly at odds.

That's a film that has awards potential all over it.

The only question now is when will the movie be released.

In 2024 or 2025?

That is still to be determined.
