In January 2017, E! News reported that Katy Perry and Lady Gaga had mysteriously been dragged into the court battle between Kesha and Dr. Luke (the "Praying" singer sued Dr. Luke in 2014, claiming he had sexually assaulted her). The details were scant at the time — save for the vague fact that a text message was involved — but now, we know why the pop stars were deposed.

In new documents from Luke's team published by The Blast, Kesha had also accused Luke — in a text message to Lady Gaga — of raping Perry. The site notes: "On February 26, 2016 [Kesha] sent a text message to Stefani Germanotta p/k/a/ Lady Gaga which repeated [Kesha’s] false claim that [Luke] had raped her."

The site adds: “[Kesha] also falsely asserted that [Luke] had also raped Kathryn Hudson p/k/a/ Katy Perry,” and that, “Following this text message conversation, and with [Kesha’s] encouragement, [Lady Gaga] spread negative messages about [Luke] in the press and on social media.”

The documents even includes Luke's allegations that Gaga had created "graphics" to assist Kesha in her case to share with millions of followers.

Perry has never publicly accused Luke of any type of misconduct — she's also mostly stayed silent on Kesha's and Luke's court case. Gaga, on the other hand, has been vocal about her support for Kesha. "There are people all over the world who love you @KeshaRose. And I can say truly I am in awe of your bravery," she tweeted in 2016.
