Last month, John Mayer asked his fans to keep their vacation plans in Montana following historic flooding. He also told his fans that he would be returning to his home in Montana this summer and would be planning some events to help flood victims.

At the time, many were wondering what kind of events Mayer was planning. This morning, he posted details about three shows planned for August. The shows will be held at Pine Creek Lodge in Paradise Valley south of Livingston.

Here's what Mayer said on his Instagram account;

Announcing Rise For The River, three great-big-very-small-shows in Livingston, MT to support a county greatly impacted by flooding and the resulting closure of the Yellowstone Park entrance that the local economy relies on. I’m blown away by the generosity of my friends @bobweir and @davechappelle and can’t wait to celebrate this awesome community with those who share my love for it.

Here's the schedule for the flood relief shows at Pine Creek Lodge

  • Monday, August 8, 2022 - Bob Weir and John Mayer
  • Sunday, August 14, 2022 - Dave Chappelle and John Mayer
  • Sunday, August 21, 2022 - John Mayer

Unfortunately, tickets for all of the benefit shows are already sold out, but who knows, you may get lucky and be able to snag yourself a pair of tickets.

Proceeds from the concerts will be donated to a new fund, the Southwest Montana Flood Relief Fund - Serving Park County, which has been created to support communities affected by the severe flooding in Park County. The funding will provide support for immediate needs like emergency shelter, drinking water, food, clothing, food replacement from lost freezers and refrigerators, and will also help with clean-up and rebuilding efforts. To donate directly, text Flood22 to 41444 or click HERE.

The event will be a phone-free experience. The use of phones will not be permitted in the performance space. Upon arrival at the venue, phones will be secured in individual Yondr pouches that will be opened at the end of the event.

Personally, I think it's really awesome that John Mayer is using his star power to help out some Montana folks in need.

Widespread flooding wiped out roads, bridges, buildings, and powerlines throughout riverside communities from Yellowstone National Park and Paradise Valley to Red Lodge. The Yellowstone River winding through Billings crested Tuesday, June 14, 2022. At 11:30 a.m. the National Weather Service in Billings reported the river rose above flood stage and was forecasted to hit 14.7 feet, nearly hitting the 15-foot record set in 1997.
