It's important to limit your time outdoors on extremely hot days. Here are a few ways to protect yourself, according to the CDC.

Extreme heat can cause people to suffer from heat-related illnesses and even death. People suffer heat-related illnesses when their bodies are unable to properly cool themselves. Older adults, young children, and people with chronic medical conditions are at high risk for heat-related illness and death. More than 700 people die from extreme heat every year in the United States.

How to Protect Yourself From Extreme Heat

Staying hydrated is crucial. Drink a lot of water, even if you don't feel thirsty. If you have air conditioning, it wouldn't be a bad idea to crank it up to eleven this week. If you have to be outside, limit your time in direct sunlight and wear lightweight loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing. If you're a parent or pet owner, please don't leave children or pets inside a hot vehicle.
