NEW ALERT: Strong Winds to Whip Through Livingston and I-90 Corridor
The I-90 corridor in Montana near Livingston and areas east should expect very strong crosswinds of up to 60 MPH, along with some snow this weekend. Travel could be difficult at times with drastically reduced visibility.
Southwest Montana is under several different warnings and advisories this weekend. Here is what to expect in the Livingston/I-90 corridor:
- A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM SATURDAY.
- WHAT...Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
- WHERE...Beartooth Foothills and Livingston Area.
- WHEN...Until 4 AM Saturday.
- IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects.
- Strong crosswinds will make travel difficult along Interstate 90 from Livingston to Big Timber and roads along the Beartooth Foothills.
- PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
- Use extra caution and consider postponing travel until winds subside, or take an alternate route.
- Secure outdoor objects!
More snow is expected in the mountains of southwest Montana AND in metro areas such as Bozeman. This advisory lasts through most of the weekend. WIND will also be an issue.

- A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM FRIDAY AFTERNOON TO 5 AM SUNDAY.
- WHAT...Snow expected.
- Total snow accumulations between 5 and 9 inches.
- Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
- WHERE...Gallatin and Madison County Mountains and Centennial Mountains.
- WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 5 AM Sunday.
- IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Additional accumulating snow is expected on Sunday.
- PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
Driving in southwest Montana could be difficult this weekend. Very gusty wind and even a small amount of snow will reduce visibility on roadways. Be alert for semis and other tall vehicles.
