Is There A Homeless Problem in Montana? Check This Out
Montana might need to solve their homeless problem sooner rather than later because it's growing.
People think Montana is filled with cute communities and quaint small towns, but over the past decade, a problem has grown. The problem is the growing homeless population.
It might not be evident in the small towns of Montana, but in the larger cities like Bozeman, Missoula, and Billings, the homeless problem has become a priority issue.
Missoula and Bozeman have started to crack down on the encampments due to public outrage, but how bad is the homeless problem in Montana? You might be surprised.
I Sold My House published a list of America's Most Homeless States in 2024, and Montana was in the bottom half of the rankings.
Montana ranked 33rd. Big Sky Country might not have the largest homeless population at around 15,00 people, but the rate of homeless is high at 14.40. That's wild.
We have a higher homeless rate than Utah, Minnesota, Florida, and other states with a larger population.
The problem is many of Montana's cities don't have full-fledged solutions to solve it. Bozeman has the HRDC doing their best with The Warming Center and other programs, but could we do better?
Well, that is entirely up to the state or cities. There needs to be more concrete plans to fix this problem or try to solve it. Locals in Missoula and Bozeman fear for their safety and want this issue to be resolved sooner rather than later.
Hopefully, 2024 is the year we can start to solve the homeless problem in Montana.
