Does Montana Have A Big Problem With Cigars? Maybe
The long road for this bill to pass hit a massive bump.
Bills in Montana
Things can take time to become official in Montana.
Getting approval for new laws, licenses, or permits in Montana can be a process.
When Montana voted for recreational marijuana in 2020, it took a full year for the state legislature to approve the taxes, rules, and other criteria before it was official statewide.
Depending on where you live, getting building permits can take months for approval.
The state legislature sees bills yearly on issues that Montanans want passed or improved.
Montana has recently passed two bills that had overwhelming support.
One was allowing third-party vendors like DoorDash and Uber Eats to deliver alcohol.
The other was Bobby's Law, which creates stricter penalties for drunk drivers.
Both laws were years in the making and convincing on both sides of the aisle to make it happen.
Well, one bill has been in legislative hell for years, and there is no sign of that changing soon.
Cigar Bar Bill Problems
Why is it having so many problems?
If you love cigars and want a dedicated space to shop and smoke, you will have to wait a while for that to happen.
Half Wheel reports the Cigar Bar Bill has hit another snag at the Montana Legislature.
The bill is to allow cigar bars to open in the state, but there have been several problems.
In 2021, the Cigar Bar Bill almost passed but was shot down by the Montana Senate.
The Senate has recently passed the bill, but the House of Representatives has denied it.
Why?
According to sources, the bill changed several items to make it more appealing.
Instead of a cigar bar, it is now a cigar room.
Other issues include not allowing electronic casino games, requiring a camera system, and more details that need to be definitive.
We understand the Montana Legislature wants to make everything perfect before passing a bill, but what's the problem with this one?

Maybe one day we will have cigar bars in Montana, but we will have to wait.
