Some of these closures broke local's hearts because they were institutions for years. Not all the closures happened in downtown Bozeman because stores closed all over the area.

What has closed in Bozeman in 2023? Here are the 12 that we can remember.

  1. Shred Monk Brewing- They had one of the best burgers in Bozeman and fantastic beer. They will be missed.
  2. Last Call Modern Mexican- They closed down at the beginning of the year.
  3. Main Street Market- Now replaced by Stio, the old Main Street Market's concept didn't catch on.
  4. Happy Box- The Korean-inspired karaoke bar had a fantastic idea and delicious food, but not many folks knew of its existence.
  5. El Camino- A fun college bar atmosphere, and locals were surprised they closed.
  6. Bozeman Antiques- Talk about an institution. Bozeman Antiques was a staple of downtown Bozeman for decades.
  7. Smoke, Fire, and Coal- One of the few BBQ restaurants in the Bozeman area, many locals were bummed out they closed.
  8. Nordic Brew Works- Great beer, fantastic food, and a superb location. It was surprising they shut down operations.
  9. Foxtrot Coffee- A small coffee shop in Ferguson Farms shut down, and a burger shop has taken their space.
  10. The Garage- only long-term locals knew how great this restaurant was, and it's sad they no longer exist.
  11. Bed Bath & Beyond- Their company filed for bankruptcy.
  12. Coldsmoke Coffee-  This one was heartbreaking. Coldsmoke Coffee was a local favorite to grab a beverage and get work done. Both locations are sadly closed.

These are the only businesses we can remember that have closed down, but if you know any more, please let us know.

Some of these businesses have been around for decades and are beloved by locals,

The craziest part is several empty store locations have new businesses lined up to take over their space. Time will only tell what will happen in 2024.
