65 Consecutive Hours of Below-Zero Temps in Bozeman

Not sure if we should be proud that we're surviving this frigid cold snap or drop to our knees and pray to the temperature gods that they will relent and let us get back to above zero temps.

As of Saturday morning at 8 a.m., we've now experienced 65 consecutive hours of below zero temps at the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport. And we're not done yet. According to KBZK-TV, our current streak began around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, and we're not expecting to see temps rise above zero until sometime Sunday afternoon. Currently in Belgrade it's -21 below zero, with a high today . . . The HIGH! . .  predicted to be -5 below zero.

It's so cold that Governor Greg Gianforte even issued an emergency executive order on Friday to keep Montanans warm.

Executive Order 4-2021 makes it easier for carriers to supply much-needed propane, heating oil, and diesel fuel during harsh winter conditions.

 “Montanans have seen harsh winter weather this week, affecting families who depend on propane and heating oil to warm their homes,” Governor Gianforte said. “This executive order will ensure the timely and necessary delivery of petroleum products so that Montanans can continue to heat their homes.” 

Propane and heating oil, according to the Governor's office, has been delayed this week to individual homes and businesses because of the record-breaking cold temps, extreme road conditions, and deep snow.

The governor's EO will temporarily suspend “hours of service” regulations for carriers actively involved in transporting propane, heating oil, and diesel fuel to communities across Montana.

As always, we try and leave you with some good news. The National Weather Service says we could see temperatures back up in the 30s on Wednesday. Who needs a trip to Arizona with temps like that? Stay warm!
