Nintendo confirmed that saved games on Wii's Virtual console will not be transferable to the Wii U's Virtual Console. Although such a seamless exchange would have been welcome, it's really not the end of the world.
It seems that buying a Wii U secondhand can net you downloads of digital titles that were previously purchased on the machine.

Nintendo announced their new controller yesterday called the Wii U. You can see a video of it here. It's similar to an IPad for the Wii with a 6.2 inch touch screen. Also equipped with a camera and video camera that lets you share things to the TV instantly through the Wii. AND it's compatible with all of the Wii games you already have. Looks pretty sweet but there's no reviews yet to say if it works as good as it looks. It's scheduled for release sometime next year.
