Nintendo Hints N64 Games Coming to Virtual Console
The Big N has hinted that Nintendo 64 titles are next in line for the Wii U’s Virtual Console.
Nintendo’s Virtual Console website has been updated and now suggests that Nintendo 64 titles are going to be added to the service. We would expect that the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros., The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Starfox 64 and Donkey Kong 64 would likely be included, since these titles are looked at as some of the top offerings that Nintendo brought to the console. A few of these games have already appeared on the Virtual Console for the Wii, so it would make sense that they would make the transition to the Wii U.
“Tip: Check back regularly for the latest releases, including the future addition of titles from the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 64 systems,” Nintendo’s website states.
While having the N64 library on your Nintendo 3DS handheld would be amazing, the website hints that the upcoming batch of Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 64 titles would only be coming to the Wii U version of the Virtual Console. Then again, we are still waiting for the day that games from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Genesis get added to the 3DS’ Virtual Console as well.
No launch window has been set for any Nintendo 64 titles to appear on the Virtual Console, but we expect to see some N64 titles to appear by Fall 2014.
