‘It’ Reveals a Threatening New Poster for Comic-Con

As a tagline, “You’ll float too” sounds more like a promise than a threat (maybe it’s both?), and the upcoming adaptation of It definitely seems ready and willing to deliver. Even if you haven’t read Stephen King’s classic horror novel and lack the context for that tagline, there’s something undeniably disturbing about it, especially when taken with this new poster created exclusively for Comic-Con 2017.

‘Jigsaw’ Trailer: Live or Die, The Choice Is Yours (Again)

Jigsaw’s back, y’all. It’s been several years (seven, to be exact), but everyone’s favorite death-contraption-loving maniac has returned — well, sort of, anyway. The first trailer for the latest installment in the Saw franchise has arrived, promising to reclaim Halloween with another round of gory puzzles, a host of fresh victims, and plenty of those classic convoluted plot twists. Let the games begin?

Jim Henson’s Son Says Steve Whitmire Made ‘Outrageous Demands’ and Flattened Kermit’s Character

The Muppets have been mired in a sort of scandal recently, started by the firing of Steve Whitmore, who had been the voice and hands of Kermit the Frog since the untimely death of Jim Henson in 1990. Now, Henson’s son Brian Henson has offered some more insight into the matter.

Meet Guillermo del Toro’s New Magical Creature in First Trailer for ‘The Shape of Water’

Whether it’s horror, fairy tale, or a superhero movie, getting inside the mind of Guillermo del Toro is always a welcomed breaks from reality. Following the ghostly Crimson Peak, the filmmaker is returning to a more Pan’s Labyrinth-esque creature feature with The Shape of Water, though this latest film looks noticably less freaky than that 2006 favorite.

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Adds Walton Goggins to the Cast

Walton Goggins has officially joined the MCU. What a time to be alive. The character actor and star of Vice Principals, The Hateful Eight and the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has signed on for Ant-Man and the Wasp, the upcoming sequel featuring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as the eponymous superheroes. Goggins is the third recent addition to the cast, joining fellow newcomers Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat) and Hannah John-Kamen (Black Mirror) for Ant-Man’s next big (semi) solo adventure.

New ‘Deadpool 2’ Photo Features Some Hardcore Cuddling Action

Comic-Con is just two days away, and while we don’t know everything we can expect to see in Hall H this year, there are a few films guaranteed to make an appearance — including Deadpool 2. Filming is already underway for the sequel to last year’s foul-mouthed box office hit, and if you’re feeling antsy about Thursday’s 20th Century Fox panel, Ryan Reynolds has offered up a little something to tide you over until then.

Say ‘Oh Hai Mark!’ to the First Trailer for ‘The Disaster Artist’

“James Franco doing a movie about the creation of legendary disasterpiece The Room” was a tantalizing prospect when first announced, either a brilliant turn for his career-spanning preoccupation with artifice in showbiz or another insufferable bout of navel-gazing. The first trailer for the comedy due December 1 (before going wide on December 8) isn’t really either, landing somewhere closer to Hail, Caesar! in its farcical send-up of filmmaking frustration. 2017 has gotten its “Would that it t’were so simple,” now say it with me: “I did not hit her, it’s not true, it’s bullsh*t, I did not hit her, I did not. Oh hi, Mark.”

Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford Are on the Run in New ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Trailer

The latest trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 is full of new dialogue and sequences that reveal plenty of new details about the sequel, but even if you watched this trailer on mute it’s a beauty. (But actually don’t watch it with the sound off because Jóhann Jóhannsson’s score is like synth porn for the ears.)

Colin Trevorrow Explains Why He’s Still the Man for the ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Job

I’ve always found the intersection of fan culture and Hollywood to be endlessly fascinating. When Joss Whedon took over the reigns of Marvel’s The Avengers, for example, it kicked off a period where a filmmaker’s talent behind-the-scenes was less important than their reverence for the source material. Whedon once wrote a series of X-Men comic books; Duncan Jones had spent years playing the Warcraft MMORPG; Neill Blomkamp adored the Alien franchise; Rian Johnson was an unparalleled Star Wars nerd. It was no longer enough for a studio to hire a director with vision and talent, you also needed to hire someone who identified - or could as least pass a skill check - with the very audience you were trying to target.
