After a scary couple of days, the town of West Yellowstone lifted the water restrictions on it's drinking water in a press release late Saturday.

The town of West Yellowstone gets it's drinking water from a source called Whiskey Springs.

Bacteria contamination was found in a test administered on Tuesday, June 9th, 2020. (Results of that test, and the contamination were not received by the town until Friday, June 12th, 2020.)

A "Do Not Use" order was issued by the Department of Environmental Quality. Another test was administered on Saturday morning, and was immediately evaluated.

The test came back negative for the presence of petroleum based products (or VOCs) and the "Do Not Use" order was then lifted.

This means the water is safe for human consumption. Restaurants and food establishments may operate normally.

More tests will be administered in the coming days to ensure the town's drinking water continues to be safe. Updates will come from the DEQ and/or the town of West Yellowstone.
