I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm ready for some football. High school, college, or the NFL, it doesn't matter at this point, it just seems like we've waited long enough.

Of course here in Montana, when it comes to the college game, there are really only two choices: the Cats or the Griz. The rivalry between Montana State and University of Montana is not only one of the fiercest in the nation, but it is also one of the oldest in the west.

Of course, one theory about why the rivalry is such a big deal to Montanans is because we don't have our own professional team to cheer for. I'm not sure that is true for everyone, but I would think that might factor into the love/hate relationship that we have for Cats/Griz.

However, what team is the most popular as far as the National Football League goes here in Montana?

I have several friends that live here in Montana and they're big fans of the Seahawks. I mean that makes sense, Washington is just next door and depending on your location, the closest NFL team. I also know there are several Denver Bronco (yuck) fans here and once again that makes sense, due to location.

Plus, there are those teams that folks seem to like wherever you go. Teams like the Cowboys, Raiders, and Packers seem to have a fanbase no matter the location.

According to sportskeeda, the most popular NFL team in Montana is the Minnesota Vikings. To be honest, I didn't see that one coming at all. The Vikings? Don't get me wrong, I have no hate for the Vikings, but I'm just surprised that Montanans would say that is their team of choice. I mean, is that really accurate?
