Flooding

The gorgeous stretch of the Bitterroot River, south of Missoula is experiencing minor flooding now and is under a Flood Advisory until Tuesday evening.

Gallatin and Broadwater counties are prone to Flood Advisories with all of our fantastic waterways. An advisory has been issued for our area through Friday evening.

AJ Scaff captured some incredible, up-close-and-personal drone footage of the flooding Yellowstone River this week. (The drone almost went for a swim!)

Due to high water levels, the National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for snowmelt.

Gallatin County has received a record amount of snow in the past month for that period of time with the snow containing a near record amount of water.

Authorities close these roads for a reason and these photos illustrate that reason quite vividly.

Due to extremely high water, flood conditions, and associated public safety concerns, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks closed many fishing access sites.

The water has risen several feet since this video was taken on Sunday.

Residents in Gallatin County are encouraged to develop a plan on how they will protect their property in case they are affected by spring flooding.

There is an ice jam on the Gallatin River already causing flooding south of Gallatin Gateway. Flood Warning is in effect until 6pm Sunday night. Details here:

A Flood Warning has been issued for the Gallatin River near Logan until further notice. An ice jam has forced the river out of its banks. No roads or structures are threatened at this time, but ice jams are unpredictable, and sudden rises in river levels could occur.
