I'm going to be completely honest...this doesn't really come as a huge shocker considering you can find them on basically every corner and street throughout town. And it's not just our town, it's the entire state.

So what do studies say Montanans are addicted to? Gambling.

As you can see we rank number 3 in the United States. Many different things went into the study to decide which state has the most addicted to gambling. You can find the full list here.

“Gambling can stimulate the brain's reward system much like drugs such as alcohol can, leading to addiction.” -Mayo Clinic

We all love a good win, right? Whether it's our favorite sports team, an ongoing argument with a coworker, or in this case, a jackpot. BUT as we all know, you can not ALWAYS win. That seems to be the case when it comes to having a "gambling disorder".

How much money do gamblers lose per year? This is CRAZY. According to the study from Wallethub, US consumers lose on average $100 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR. That's a whole lotta cash money!

Who loses more?

Men or Women. This doesn't really come as a shock to me, only because the men I know, are all very competitive. With that being said, the answer is men. A male gambling addict accumulates somewhere between $55,000 to $90,000 in debt, unlike women with a gambling addiction who accumulate around $15,000 in debt.
