Main Street can often become extremely congested during peak traffic hours. You might have to wait through multiple light cycles if you're trying to make a left turn. To help ease the congestion, many local drivers use Mendenhall St. or Babcock St.

Mendenhall is a one-way street heading west on the north side of Main St., whereas Babcock is a one-way street heading east located on the south side of Main St. When used correctly, the one-way streets in downtown Bozeman are effective in keeping the flow of traffic running smoothly.

However, there are a few issues. Some people apparently don't see the signs that read "One-Way" and drive down them in the wrong direction. Honestly, it's something that I see at least twice a week, and more often than not, the vehicle has out-of-state plates.

I understand that a lot of people are moving to Bozeman, but when they do, they need to be aware of their surroundings. Mendenhall St. and Babcock St. are clearly marked "One-Way" in many locations throughout downtown Bozeman. I'm starting to wonder if some people simply can't read.

I'm not writing this to throw shade at out-of-staters that are moving to Bozeman. It's just something I've noticed happening a lot more frequently in Bozeman.
