Montana’s Best Bar-B-Q Revealed, Here’s The Top 3 Spots.
I'm a big fan of Bar-B-Q, but I learned long ago that it's a whole lot like religion, everyone has a favorite, and they all think theirs is better than everyone else's.
Of course, I've heard it said more than once, even bad Bar-B-Q is still Bar-B-Q and I suppose there is some truth to that. I mean, you can take a tough piece of meat, and as long as you put a rub on it and cook it low and slow, you're going to have something decent to eat in the end.
But we're not here to talk about decent Bar-B-Q, we're here to talk about the very best Bar-B-Q in Montana.
So how did we come up with the Top 3? Did we use Google Reviews, an out-of-state website, or Yelp? Nope, we decided to actually ask local Montanans instead of basing our opinions on questionable sources.
So, which 3 Bar-B-Q joints are the best in Montana? Let's take a look.
Follow Yer' Nose
A quick look at their menu and you know right away, these folks are not messing around. Not only do they offer up all of your traditional favorites along with the sides you expect at a Bar-B-Q joint, but there are also some serious culinary skills going into creating this one-of-a-kind Montana Bar-B-Q. Follow Yer' Nose has locations in Emigrant and Gardiner, has limited hours, and is open seasonally.
The Notorious P.I.G.
I think we can all agree that this Missoula favorite has one of the best names of any restaurant, anywhere. Lucky for Montanans, they also serve up some amazing Bar-B-Q. The Notorious P.I.G. has an impressive menu of all of your Bar-B-Q favorites like ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and burnt ends. If you find yourself in The Garden City, a stop at The Notorious P.I.G. is a must.
Bar 3
Our final entry is found in Belgrade, Montana. Bar 3 BBQ offers a full menu of not only fantastic Bar-B-Q but excellent sides and several different salads. I mean, there aren't a whole lot of places where you can find not only fried green tomatoes but green chile cheese grits. Of course, they also have all of your traditional favorites for those that love Bar-B-Q plus some other dishes for those that might not be a huge fan of smoked meats.
Of course, there are several more wonderful Bar-B-Q joints across the state of Montana, and we would love to hear from you and which one is your favorite. Send us a message on our radio station app.
