Gas prices have been on the rise in Montana and throughout the country, but gas prices in Montana are still lower than what you'll find in surrounding states.

Recently, I was on a road trip with my family. First, I drove from Bozeman to Boise, Idaho. The next day my parents and I drove to northern California to meet up with my brother and his family. He and his wife recently bought a piece of property in the mountains near Alturas, California.
Gas prices may have increased in Montana, but we've got it pretty good compared to Idaho and California. In Boise, the cheapest gas you'll find is at Costco where the current price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.74. California is even more expensive. In the small town of Alturas, the cheapest regular unleaded gas is $4.39/gallon.
Filling up your gas tank isn't ever fun, but at least we have it better than other states. You can still find gas for less than $3/gallon in places like Laramie, Wyoming but not in Montana.
