MLB Draft Featured One Montana Player

This is a massive accomplishment for this young man, and we want to wish him the best of luck in whatever he pursues. 

The MLB Draft was held throughout the past few days, during which players in high school and college had the opportunity to chase their major league dreams. Over three days, only one player from Montana was selected in the twenty rounds of the draft. Who is that man?

406 MT Sports reports that Billings' local Brock Blatter was selected in the 19th round of the MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs. Brock Blatter is a tall pitcher and recent Billings Central grad. He features a fastball in the low to mid-90s and has above-average off-speed pitches. 

Will Brock Blatter take this opportunity to start his MLB career early? He certainly can, but he  is also committed to playing baseball at the University of Alabama. If he forgoes his contract with the Chicago Cubs and goes to play college ball, Brock will have to wait three years for the chance to get drafted to the MLB again. 

It's a tough decision, and he has a few weeks to decide whether or not to sign his pro contract. 

Right now, only one baseball player in Major League Baseball is from the state of Montana. Codi Heuer is a pitcher out of Missoula, Montana and currently plays for the team that drafted Brock, the Chicago Cubs. 

Montana has recently upped their baseball exposure by adding high school-sanctioned baseball to sports programs. Additionally, the independent Pioneer League added some Montana teams to its roster. Montana is definitely on the rise when it comes to baseball.
