Is Facebook Really Going to Start Charging Users $4.99/Month?

The claim that Facebook will start charging users $4.99 a month is false, according to Verify This. If you do 'copy & paste" the message to your personal page, you could be opening yourself up to hackers. Facebook Help Center clearly states that the social media platform does not charge users a fee, but it does charge advertisers to show ads on Facebook, Instagram, and Meta’s other social media sites.

For years, there have been rumors that Facebook was planning to charge users online, but that simply isn't true. If you notice that one of your friends has shared the message, you may want to let them know that there's nothing to worry about. As always, don't believe everything you read on the internet. Facebook has always been free, and that isn't going to change anytime soon.
