Think Montana Is Safe? You May Want To Think Again

Of course we all like to think the state we move to or have lived in forever is safe. We want to know that if we are not holding hands with our teenage that they will be safe, because that's the kind of community we chose to live in.

Every year a national poll comes out and using statistics, puts together a list of the safest states in America. Sometimes it can catch us off guard, depending where your home state lands.

WalletHub came out with a list of the Least Safest States in America 2023 and per usual I was curious as to where Montana landed. To say I was a bit disappointed would be an understatement.

Considering we are a large state with little population (when compared to others) you would hope that we would rank high for safety. I was wrong.

Like every state, there are always going to be a few towns that make us think twice about moving there or deciding where to raise our kiddos. But like I always say, "negative yells and positive whispers". The same goes for crime and violence; we hear about all the drug busts, assaults, break-ins, etc. It's not very often we hear about all the great things right?

Here's 8 States That Have Longer And Harsher Winters Than Montana

Winter can be brutal here in Montana with lots of wind, snow, and temperatures well below zero. In fact, that alone should be a word of warning for those thinking of moving here from warmer climates.

A lot goes into being prepared to live in a state with rough winters and if you've never done it before, you certainly need to make sure that you are prepared. You need to make sure you have the right tires, vehicle, and winter clothing. Plus, I would highly suggest you learn how to drive in winter conditions before moving to a state that celebrates winter 6 months out of the year.

And while winters can be very rough here in Montana, we don't even crack the Top 5 for States With The Most Brutal Winters.
